A seafarer was an individual who navigated the stormy waters with skill, sometimes living a life that was often lonely and demanding. Many ancient cultures relied on the knowledge of the seafarer who explored distant cultures and shores for trade.
OnlineVocabulary.com describes a modern day a seafarer as a person who travels or works at sea, often as a sailor or crew member on ships. The term “seafarer” is commonly used to describe those with a profession or
lifestyle connected to maritime activities.
My inspiration for composing THE SEAFARER was to provide my students with a song that they would enjoy learning to play, and provide other music educators with a teaching tool that can be used to motivate and
encourage their students.
THE SEAFARER is dedicated to my family, friends, teachers, and the thousands of students who have influenced, inspired, and enriched my life.
