Michael Francis Smith

Dr. Michael Francis Smith is a songwriter, composer, teacher and minister. He has taught music at every grade level from K-12. He is a graduate of Ithaca College where he studied composition with Karel Husa. His Master's Degree is in Education Administration from Lesley College; for 23 years he was a K-12 Music Department Chair in two Massachusetts school districts. He is one of the founders and conductors of the Abington Community Band, which has performed twenty-five years of holiday and summer concerts. He completed a doctorate at the Institute for Worship Studies in Jacksonville, Florida founded by Robert Webber.
Dr. Smith’s objective in his creative work is to encourage people, especially children; and to work towards a more hopeful, inclusive and sustainable society. It is his intention to build harmonious bridges between people. His hobbies include gardening and writing books for children and adults. His music is published by Imagine Music Publishing. He lives on Cape Cod in Massachusetts with his wife, Janice.
