These rather brief six works for solo organ: Jubilate, Contemplation, Redemption, Assurance, Meditation and Serenity, were composed as a result of incidental music I improvise during those times of a liturgical service where the celebrant or the congregation is not engaged in any aspect that requires a prescribed hymn; essentially then, this is music that provides a particular mood of reflection.
The performer/organist will notice that in comparison to, for example, a composition for piano, very few markings of dynamics and articulations are notated, the reason of course, being the nature of the instrument and of course the fact that virtually no two organs by different organ builders contain the same specifications. In that sense, the choice of stops and dynamics are left to the performer. All that is necessary is that the organist attempt to capture the essence of each title.
