When you play Elven Forest, try to portray a calm, shadowed woodland. Use a full, controlled tone and very smooth, legato phrasing to create this mood. Even though there are few marked crescendos or diminuendos, be creative and add them yourself. They can represent a breeze blowing through the trees, wildlife slowly and quietly waking, and rustling leaves that let sunlight filter through to the forest floor.
The form of Elven Forest is ternary plus codetta. In the A sections, the theme is presented and then immediately restated as a variation.
