Cantate Domino combines the Latin text from Psalm 149 with driving rhythms and rich, contemporary harmonies. This piece should be dance-like and joyous. It should not be sung legato but with slight separation. If the low “D” in the final measure of the bass part is not possible, it may be omitted.
Translation:
O sing unto the Lord a new song: let the congregation of saints praise him.
Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: and let the children of Sion be joyful in their King.
