Since "orchestrational" color is lacking in a like-ensemble arrangement, it is very important to adhere to dynamics in order for melodies and motives to be more clearly heard. Staccato articulations should be light and always within the framework of the written dynamic part. Contra players should take great care to play a little less than the dynamic marked unless it is a primary motive or melody line.
