Product Overview
Thomas Kuras met the oboist Mark Dubois through mutual acquaintances and began to hire Mark and his fiancee, oboist Sarah Hamilton, for orchestral performances at his church and other occasions. When Mark and Sarah set their wedding date, they asked Tom Kuras to write something for the ceremony. The happy result was A Wedding Piece for Mark and Sarah, published now for the first time as Theme and Variations for Two Oboes and Organ. Kuras begins and ends the piece with the theme, surrounding four variations. The first and last of these utilize all the performers the second is for unaccompanied oboe duet and the third for solo organ. (N.B. All registrations and other markings are taken from the composer's copy of the score.) The premiere of this work was given on 28 August 1993, at Eglinton United Church in Toronto, Canada, at the wedding of Sarah Hamilton and Mark Dubois. The bride, groom, and composer were the performers.
