For String Orchestra.
By Sara Siegler
Perpetua is an energetic piece that depicts a sense of constant, or “perpetual” motion. The composer imagined the motion of wheels turning and the adventure of speeding along on the open road The driving rhythmic patterns set up the pace in the lower strings and help build momentum throughout the piece. The melody is passed throughout each section and the piece is a good opportunity for students to play pizzicato and col legno.
