Product Overview
"Dog's Death", a powerful and emotional poem by John Updike, inspired me to write this song cycle for voice, clarinet, and piano. I was so overwhelmed by the poem that I felt it needed to be bracketed by two shorter, lighter pieces. "Perfection Wasted", the final song in the set, is particularly meaningful to me.
