Felicity takes advantage of both the high and low ranges of the clarinet, presenting tuneful melodic material and characteristic clarinet flourishes, but no requirement of actual virtuosity. It is intended for a clarinetist of at least moderate capabilities and can be easily mastered with a little practice. There is a driving rhythm in the piano part which also includes some melodic statements, giving the piano an important role. An impressive piece, it sounds more difficult than it actually is, written in an easy key for clarinet and requiring uncomplicated fingering, for the most part. The time of performance is approximately 3:45.
