For Marrian is an emotional ride that will take the listener through feelings of fear, introspection, anger, grief, and joy. For Marrian was inspired by the thought of the composer’s two-year old cousin growing up in the unstable environment of Jerusalem. The piece is comprised of three movements performed attaca. Melodically all of the material is drawn from an old Arabic folksong. Each movement contains fragments of the tune hidden beneath the layers.
