Product Overview
For English Horn and Piano
By Marie de Grandval.
The Two Pieces for English Horn and Piano were published in 1886 and have been unavailable for almost one hundred years. The work consists of two "character pieces," a Prelude and Valse Lent (Slow Waltz). Both of these are in Late Romantic style and provide numerous opportunities for expressive playing. This set should make a welcome addition to the current repertoire of English Hom compositions from this era for use on recitals and academic juries.
Grandval dedicated the Two Pieces for English Horn and Piano to Georges Gillet (1854-1920) the legendary French oboist and pedagogue. Grandval and Gillet enjoyed a close friendship; she composed her Oboe Concerto for him as well as the Two Pieces for Oboe, Cello, and Piano.
