Harold Emert is a native of New York City where he earned his Bachelor's degree from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College and a Masters Degree from the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied with Albert Goltzer, Associate Principal Oboist of the New York Philharmonic. Emert later earned an Artist's Diploma from the Hochschule fiir Musik in Freiburg, Germany where he studied with Heinz Holliger. His other oboe eachers have included Ronald Roeman, Lois wann, Harold Gomberg, and Bill Arrowsmith.
Emert's versatile and varied career has included three solo recital tours to the Far East, Australia, New Zealand, Brunei, and India as well as performances and recordings in almost all of Latin America. A long-time resident of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, he is active as a performer and composer, as well as being a foreign correspondent for the New York Daily News and several newspapers in the United Kingdom.
