Product Overview
With accessible melody and succinct structure, Sonatina for Trumpet and Piano in many aspects reflects Prokofiev's “simplism." Its structure falls roughly into a sonata form. The first theme is short and animate, while the second one, in contrast, sings a long lyrical tune. Since the keys are not established in conventional ways the tonal centers are ambiguous in most times. Although the dominancy of the trumpet cannot be avoided in this instrumental setting, the composer tried to make the piano sound equally interesting and attractive with the trumpet. It is the composer's wish that this little piece could bring the audience a cheerful frame of mind. CD recording by Adam Hayes and Kris Carlisle is available on Curvepoin Media.
