Product Overview
The manuscript of this Prelude pour 4 Bassons ou Violoncelles bears the date 1902, during the time Gilson was professor of composition at the Brussels Conservatory. There are few original compositions for bassoon quartet from the Romantic period, and the rare examples that were written were not published in their time (such as the charming Quartet by Johann Nepomuk Hummel). This early 20th century bassoon quartet is unique in the repertoire, and beautifully demonstrates the singing qualities of the bassoon.
