Product Overview
This composition is a true tour de force. Unlike the majority of my chamber music, which is usually aimed at intermediate and/or more advanced students, this work is geared for the most gifted students and professionals. Both the piano and cello parts are extremely demanding. In the case for the latter instrument, the range is from C2 to C6; in other words, the usually cited full four-octave range for the cello. When recently asked why I would utilize the upper 1.5 octaves of the cello, I somewhat cheekily replied; “When you bought your instrument, you also paid for those top notes. Learn them.” Not only is the cellist facing the full range of the instrument, but is also looking down the barrel of rapid runs, pizzicati and wide leaps.
