For String Orchestra (Level 2.5)
By John O'Neill
Orange Blossom Blues was inspired by a song written in 1939 by Ervin Rouse about a train, “The Orange Blossom Special”. Over the years, because of the virtuosity required in performance, it has become known as ‘the fiddle players national anthem’. And, I’m sure, memories of growing up in a railroad town duringWWII played a part in this composition. The score is based, not on any thematic material, but the spirit of this wonderful fiddle tune.
