Product Overview
Music for Oboes was written for a double reed convention held in Los Angeles in 1974. It was composed for and premiered by Norman Benno (Oboe); Earle Dumler (English Horn), and John Ellis, (Heckelphone). The first movement is light-hearted and bouncy. The second is a slow march, contrasted with a quicker chromatic fugato section which leads back to the march. The last movement returns to the light-hearted feeling of the first movement, briefly quoting many famous oboe and English horn solos from the symphonic repertoire along the way.
The quotations in the finale should be easily recognizable to oboists.
