INSTRUMENTAL PARTS (FLUTE, OBOE & DJEMBE)
My good friend, Elizabeth Tomorsky Knott, has personally commissioned me to write several pieces for her various organizations. This piece was requested for Music for Tanzania, which serves underprivileged children in Tanzania providing them with music and instruments. Maombi na Sifa (in Swahili, for which the diction is similar to Latin) is translated as "Prayer and Praise". As the title suggests, the piece begins with a prayerful chorale which leads into a joyous affirmation of life.
