Composer’s Notes
The composition was inspired by the hymn tune written by Felice de Giardini (April 12, 1716 – June 8, 1796) who was an Italian composer, violinist and a child prodigy. He is best known among Protestant churches for his "Italian Hymn".
According to Dr. Hawn professor of sacred music at Perkins School of Theology, Martin Madan, in his 1769 Collection of Psalm-Tunes never published before, paired “Come, Thou Almighty King” to the tune ITALIAN HYMN,written for the text by Felice de Giardini.
ITALIAN HYMN is dedicated to my father Dwight Gazlay who throughout his entire lifetime was an inspiration to his family and others.
