Product Overview
For Bassoon Choir
By Charles Knox. For Eight Bassoon and Contrabassoon.
Knox's stint with the Third Army Band resulted in a commission from one of his band mates, bassoonist Tom Diener in 1963. That gentleman was going to be teaching at a summer camp in North Carolina and asked Knox to compose something for large bassoon ensemble-the fee was $50.00, roughly $350.00 in today's currency. The piece, Introduction and Allegro for Bassoon Choir, is scored for eight bassoons and contrabassoon and bears the distinction of being the first work ever written for this large a group of bassoons. I am very glad to offer the first engraved edition of this unique piece. In addition to its historical significance, it's a lot of fun to play. I hope that my colleagues will enjoy it as much as I have.
