Forest Flowers is a piano quintet consisting of nine individual movements, or more accurately, nine sections. It does not follow the usual and traditional structure of a classical piano quintet, which usually consists of four movements with the typical allegro, andante/adagio, scherzo, and allegro sections. The total performance time is approximately thirty-five minutes, which, of course, is subject to slight differences in tempi interpretations.

The idea for this piece's composition came from the fact that flowers that thrive in forests are little known compared to those that live in open fields and gardens; these flowers, in spite of their conditions, manage to bloom irrespective, in many cases, of the lack of abundant light, water, and air circulation, and so I decided to give them recognition through this composition.

Most of the sections of the quintet consist of relatively subdued dynamics and slow to moderate tempi, and should be performed with all the expression indicated in the score and parts. Since the entire work consists of nine individual sections with a total performance time of about thirty-five minutes, each section is only a few minutes long. Each section can be performed autonomously or combined in any number and in any order with the other sections.

Forest Flowers received its premiere performance on May 4, 2024, by the Madison String Quartet with pianist Itay Goren; it was subsequently performed again on May 5 by the same ensemble. Both the quartet and Mr. Goren are internationally recognized artists. The recording can be accessed through the publisher, Imagine Music Publishing, NY, or through the composer.
