For Bassoon & Piano
By Jack Normain Kimmell
Composer’s Notes:
I have a special friend Jill (a retired French teacher) who bought herself a bassoon with the intent to learn to play. I decided to write a short piece for her. It was so much fun that I wrote another, which I enjoyed, and another, and another until I had written all five. The fifth piece was especially written to make use of the tenor clef. I’ve always enjoyed the bassoon ever since, as a child, I heard the famous solo in Stravinsky’s “Le Sacre du printemps.”
Five Duets for Bassoon an Piano is intended to played together, as if each were movements.
