Christopher Barr
Christopher Barr, (ASCAP) grew up in Eagle River, Alaska and currently resides in Anchorage, AK. His teachers have included Dr. William Post of the University of Alaska Fairbanks, Dr. Kip Haaheim of the University of Kansas, and Hal Nonneman who first introduced the wonderful world of music to Chris in elementary school.
As a saxophonist/oboist, he has performed with the Fairbanks Symphony , the Anchorage Symphony, and many ensembles at UAF. While attending UAF, he had his first major work, "Mei Primoris Carmen", performed by the UAF Wind Ensemble, a piece that would go on to have a feature performance at the 2003 Music Educators National Conference.
In addition to writing for wind ensemble, Chris is also a successful film composer with over 2 dozen credits to his name. His current projects include the score for the feature film, "The Mix-In", and several pieces for beginning band.
