Product Overview
For Band (Grade 2)
By Gary Gazlay
CHOCOLATE' was written for my band students with the purpose of providing them with a “fun” song to play. The Spanish word for chocolate is chocolate' (pronounced “choco' –latte') and the title was selected simply because I enjoy eating chocolate. The challenge that I have observed with my students is keeping the tempo throughout the entire song especially from measures (28-35). Another challenge is playing the accents and crescendos in measure (34-35) and (52-53). The flute part was written in octaves in many places for the more advanced players and is optional.
It is my hope that CHOCOLATE' will provide students with a song that they will enjoy learning to play and provide other music educators with a teaching tool that can be used to motivate and encourage their students.
CHOCOLATE' is dedicated to my nephew Joshua Dorsey.
