Attacca 1956 is an orchestral fanfare resulting from a commission to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Methodist College (now Methodist University) in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The title is meant to signify the steady and progressive advancement in size and quality that the university has experienced since its initial charter in 1956. It is most certainly one of the loudest pieces I have ever written and should not be played too slowly, particularly at the outset.
