Product Overview

This is the First Publication of Barthe' s Andantino. Although the holograph score does not indicate a specific solo instrument,  it is safe to assume that he had the oboe in mind. Barthe made at least two trips to New York City, possibly accompanying his wife, who was a professional singer. An examination of Barthe' s dated holographs place him in The Big Apple in Spring 1884 and Autumn 1892. The Andantino was written during that first visit as the score is dated 19 April 1884.

The piece is a very brief ternary form with a more elaborate accompaniment in the return of the "A" section.

The Andantino for Oboe and Piano would work well for recitals as part of a set of miniatures by other French composers such as Coste and Detrain.
