At the Foothills of the Adirondacks
By Daniel Baldwin
At the Foothills of the Adirondacks was commissioned in honor of the opening of the Greater Johnstown High School¿s new auditorium. It is a beautiful and dramatic concert overture featuring antiphonal trumpets and percussion. There are three mallet percussion parts that have been written in such a way that any of the three may be excluded if there is no one to cover them. This piece features lush solos for the oboe, bassoon, and clarinet in the slow section, however, the piece is doubled very nicely to accommodate a smaller instrumentation.
At the Foothills of the Adirondacks was commissioned by and is gratefully dedicated to the Greater Johnstown High School Bands, Daniel Jones, Director.
