Pierre Vigué was born in Paris, France in 1989 and brought up in Toulouse. He started playing the violin at the age of 6, studying with Mary Devismes and Guenadi Goffman. His first attempts as a composer began shortly after. He attended several music courses where he developed an increasing interest for ensemble music. Some of his string quartets were premiered at the Ensemble Pierre Taconné's summer camp, which encouraged him to pursue his work.
Pierre started composing for orchestra in Simon Limbrick's composition class of the European Youth Summer Music (EYSM); there he had the opportunity to experiment with several techniques, styles and forms, as well as to conduct the EYSM orchestra to play some of his pieces with the help of Andrew Sherwood. At EYSM he has also led some composition workshops for young musicians, with Steve Dummer. Valse d'automne is the first piece that he wrote on the course.
