Laura Collier was born on April 24, 1991. She started taking piano lessons at the age of six from Lynn Westmoreland. Soon after, she discovered her passion for composition and began writing songs for the piano. In high school, she took a selective composition class at Fairfax Academy for the Creative Arts under the instruction of Chris Johnston.
Laura is now in the process of earning a Bachelors Degree in Composition and Theory from Christopher Newport University. She receives weekly composition instruction from Dr. Christopher Cook and continues to develop her piano skills under the instruction of Dr. Beth Tomassetti. She plans on continuing her education in music composition in graduate school. Performances of her work include a woodwind quintet at the 2010 CNU composer's forum and a brass quintet 2010 SCI CNU composathon.
