Jon Jeffrey Grier

Jon Jeffrey Grier (B.A. in music from Kalamazoo College, M.M. from Western Michigan University, M.M. from the University of South Carolina, D.M.A. in composition from the University of South Carolina) has benefited from studies with Gordon R. Goodwin, Samuel O. Douglas, Jerry Curry, and Lawrence Rackley Smith. Currently, Grier is a composer-in-residence at the Greenville Fine Arts Center in Greenville, South Carolina where he teaches advance placement music theory and music history. He is also the keyboardist and arranger with the Greenville-based groups Oracle, a jazz-fusion ensemble, and Edgewise, a jazz piano trio.

Mr. Grier's composition A Child I Was for Madrigal choir won second place in the 2005 Ithaca College Composition Contest. Band directors from around the country have recognized his band compositions as fresh, ability- appropriate, and enjoyable.
