Daniel Barnard
Dr. Daniel Barnard is currently Director of the Arts Center at the University of Texas at Brownsville. He holds a DMA in Composition from the University of Kansas and other degrees from the University of Northern Colorado and West Texas State University. Prior to accepting the Directorship at UTB, Dr. Barnard spent twenty years as a collegiate educator and choral director in positions in Nebraska, Pennsylvania, and South Dakota.
Barnard's compositions have won several national competitions including the Ithaca College Choral Composition Competition and competitions sponsored by Mt. Union College and Northern Arizona University. Portions of his work, Requiem for a Sailor have been recorded by the Vocal Essence Choir, under the direction of Philip Brunelle, in a nationally prominent program called "Essentially Choral."
