Kenneth Piotrowski

Composer/pianist Kenneth Piotrowski was born in Michigan and raised in the Greater Detroit area. He began his musical studies on the piano with Ruth Waara at age five and remained with her for the next fifteen years. By age eight, he was tutored by her in theory, counterpoint and harmony from the text books of past notables such as Elson, Curwen, Relfe, Goetschius, Chadwick and Prout to name a few.  These were soon augmented by in-depth studies in composition and orchestration, again from the writings of past masters such as Rimsky-Korsakov, Forsyth, Borch and Coerne.  Still later, vocal training ensued and for many years he was considered one of the lead virtuosi on the glass harmonica; the instrument invented by Ben Franklin. To date, he has composed over 500 compositions. Although equally at home composing for full orchestra, the vast majority are chamber music. Piotrowski currently resides in a small, very small, town in Maine.
