Joan Vincent Machi i Castell
Joan Vincent Machi i Castell was born November 8, 1958 in Algemesí in the province of Valencia (Spain). He began studying law at the Basque University but gave it up to concentrate entirely on his music.
Joan studied at the conservatories in Valencia, Barcelona, and San Sebastian. He performed trumpet for the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra as well as various brass ensembles. Having received a scholarship from the Basque government, he continued his trumpet studies with P. Thibuad in Nice (France) and with A. Ghitalla in Genova (Italy). He also studied conducting with M. Atzmon and F. Nagy in Assisi and with A. Ervin and J. Kalmar in Szeged, Hungary.
Joan has given first performances of several works for brass ensembles, wind band, and chorus.
