It was not until I fell into a twilight-like state when falling asleep that the relevance and meaning of “Contours I” came home to me. At this point, I had already written a comprehensive and detailed draft of the piece.
A dream-scape, a study in various states of consciousness and the journey of their discovery – contours of concrete flash-like images merging into shadows, vague allusions and fragments of archetypes. Strands of stories unravel. “Contours” seems to be the most comprehensive term to describe this phenomena, “I” simply indicates that this process is not concluded.
I would like to thank my long - time composer friend Dr. Rod Harkins for his edits and input!
